12. Dezember 2017 - 14:49

We are honored to invite you to the Annual International Development Conference that will take place at the Knesset of Israel, on the 23rd of January, 2018, between 11:00 and 13:30.

The conference culminates the collaboration among the Society for International Development – SID Israel, an umbrella organization of over 100 Israeli organizations, companies, and academic programs engaged in international aid and development; the Milken Innovation Center at the Jerusalem Institute; the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy, and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC), Herzliya; and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, headed by Prof. Jeffrey Sachs under the auspices of the United Nations.

As a global leader in the fields of agriculture, water, medicine, and technology, Israel is uniquely positioned to contribute to the developing world. The conference will address the potential inherent in Israel’s engagement in the developing world, illuminate paths for realizing this potential, and recognize the contribution of distinguished Israelis who have made significant contributions to developing countries. Among other things, we will discuss how different sectors in the Israeli society—government, private sector, and civil society—can effectively work together, while also collaborating with the world Jewry and international organizations.

The conference will also inaugurate a new parliamentary caucus for “Strengthening Israel’s Impact in the Developing World”, headed by MK and Chairman of the coalition David Bitan (Likud), MK Ksenia Svetlova (Labor), MK and Chairman of the Subcommittee for Foreign Affairs and Public Diplomacy Robert Ilatov (Yisrael Beiteinu), as well as other members of the Knesset from both coalition and opposition parties.

The conference will conclude with the presentation of recognition awards to Israelis who have significantly contributed to improving lives in developing countries and boosted up Israel’s positive impact in these parts of the world.
